Part of the UK's Innovation Infrastructure

About the PBIAA Initiative

The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) established the Place-Based Impact Acceleration Account (PBIAA) scheme to accelerate research translation across the UK. Ten regional hubs were selected in the first round, with a further 8 in the second round, totalling over £80m investment.  Each PBIAA focuses on its region’s specific strengths whilst contributing to national innovation capacity.  The Yorkshire MedTech PBIAA specialises in medical technologies, leveraging our region’s concentration of clinical expertise and commercial MedTech sector.  It is one of the largest of five MedTech/biotech-related EPSRC PBIAAs.
